Week 6 Overview

Guiding Questions: What are the roles, needs, and values within families around the world?

How should people work together to be a family?

In week 6 students will be putting together everything they learned to solve a make believe family problem. They will individually solve it based on their own family and based on a pretend family that would be from the culture they researched. They will present their project to the class in a creative way. On the last day, the teacher will read The Family Book by Todd Parr and have a class discussion about how families work together to make a family.

Formative Assessment:

Students will be given a family problem. They will explain how the problem should be solved, including roles, responsibilities, wants, needs, and values through drawing, writing, or verbal explanations. They will solve it based on their own family and then solve it with a family that is based on the culture they researched. They will present their ideas to the class.
